This is one of my favourite recipe which is a quick and healthy alternative to prepare in no time for breakfast, lunch or dinner when I am tired or do not want to cook full course. This is not just yummy but it is also tummy filling with all the necessary nutrients and vitamins. You can also use it as a spread over to make sandwiches or toasts.
Tips to get perfect texture and taste of Guacamole:
Avocados should be ripe enough to get the creamy and savoury texture and taste. Avoid using over-ripe avocados as it will ruin the taste. If you have hard avocados which cannot be turned into guac right away, then store them in a paper bag with a banana. This will help in fast ripening of avocados.
For tomatoes, only use them if you have gorgeous red tomatoes and not the regular ones. This will turn guac into a watery texture which we do not want. In this recipe, I have only used the outer walls of tomato and discarded the centre watery pulp.
When it comes to flavours and dressing, cilantro leaves are just more than perfect. Guac dressed with olive oil and lemon juice blends very well with cilantro leaves and it gives a nice aroma in the avocado dip.
How to store Guacamole?
The best thing you can do is finish your guacamole on the first go. But, if you have left me some then it is necessary to preserve it properly. Otherwise, the avocado flesh turns brown when in contact with air. Also, there are a few tried and tested methods for preserving, that I am gonna share with you.
- Place the leftover guacamole in a container and secure the container tightly with the plastic wrap. When you want to use it again just unwrap and stir it. Ready to use.
- Similarly, You can put half a glass of water or at least ½ inch of water over leftover guac and then cover it with the lid and place it in the refrigerator. When you want to use it, just drain the water off the top and you are good to use.
- Last and most useful way, put half onion onto the top of leftover guacamole and then secure it with plastic wrap. This way, the guac lasts well for 2 to 3 days.
Now, let’s start with the recipe.
